Born Flawed

We are not blank slates. We are fractured mirrors in need of restoration.

The Ache of Inheritance

Nobody starts clean.
We like to believe babies arrive pure and untouched, but Scripture tells a different story. We are born already marked by the Fall, carrying distortion before we take our first breath.

And if that weren’t enough, life adds more cracks. Families, schools, churches, workplaces. Every one of them leaves fingerprints. Flawed people pass on flaws. Wounded people wound others. Sometimes they help us see what’s misaligned, but too often they try to define us through their own distortion.

The False Story of Innocence

The culture often says we’re born good, that identity is a blank canvas we can paint however we want. But if that were true, why do we ache from the start? Why do even the early years carry fear, comparison, and shame?

We are not blank slates. We are fractured mirrors, reflecting design, but never whole on our own.

The Third Way

Our identity isn’t invented, and it isn’t fluid. It was given by God before the first fracture appeared. That’s why the ache runs so deep. Even in distortion, the echo of His design remains.

The work is not to pretend we’re flawless. The work is to let God uncover, redeem, and restore what has been flawed since the beginning.

Why This Matters

Until we admit we’re born into distortion, every “solution” will disappoint us. Gurus, philosophers, and even well-meaning leaders will continue to tell us that we can fix ourselves, but the cracks run deeper.

Clarity begins when we stop trying to paint over the glass and let God make it whole.

This is the Maverick Path. To name the fracture honestly and to walk toward the only One who can restore it.
